  • 1. Akademiya Meditsinskikh Nauk SSSR, Moscow. Vsesoyuznyj Nauchnyj Tsentr Khirurgii

Description

Potentialities of computed tomography in the detection of subclinical adrenal tumors and in determination of relevant pathological process are described. Upon the analysis of the size, shape and density of normal adrenal glands assessed in 107 subjects with computed tomography, reference parameters were developed. During the review examination of the abdomen adrenal tumors were accidentally found in 56 patients. Of them the disease was asymptomatic in 47. Adrenal adenomas were verified in 32 asymtomatic patients. Comparison of computed tomography, angiography and phlebography permitted development of symptom complex characteristic for adrenal adenoma. Diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are presented for cases of computed tomography identification of subclinical adrenal tumors
