Effects of the pump symmetry on the parametric excitation of transverse and longitudinal waves
Description
The parametric coupling of transverse and longitudinal waves in a plasma to depend strongly on the structure of the pump wave. Within the fluid model, the threshold pump intensity and the maximum growth rate of the excited waves are obtained for the cases of the linearly polarized, a travelling and a standing circularly polarized pump wave;.
