Features of emission of high-energy charged particles from TI and PD targets during implantation in them of deuterium ions

Description

The spectra of energies of charged particles emitted from Ti and Pd targets are investigated during their saturation with deuterium ions. Besides peaks of protons, tritium and helium-3 bounded to d-d reactions in targets weak additional peaks with maxima at energies 3.15,2.2 and 1.3 MeV are observed in spectra.Intensities of these peaks compared to peak of protons make accordingly 0.005, 0.03 and 0.08. Data of experiments with using of known thickness Ni film (0.57 microns) between the targets and the silicon detector for an estimation of specific losses of energy result in the conclusion, that the observable additional peaks are caused by emission of three groups (α-particles) with initial energy 3.5, 2.5 and 1.7 MeV, respectively. Probable sources of α-particles are discussed
