In-beam spectroscopy of 192Pb

  • 1. Lawrence Livermore National Lab., CA (United States)

Description

The authors have conducted in-beam spectroscopic studies of 192Pb using the 173Yb(24Mg,5n) reaction at 128 and 132 MeV with thin targets, and the 148Sm(48Ca,4n) reaction at 205 MeV with a gold-backed target. Experiments were done with the HERA spectrometer at the LBL 88-Inch Cyclotron facility. Band structures are observed built on the low-lying 11- state in 192Pb in the gamma-ray coincidence data. Gates on band members in the thin- and backed-target data display significant differences. The implications of these data for transition placement and isomers in these bands will be discussed. A preliminary report on 192Pb spectroscopy has been made by the Argonne group
