Description
Pulse radiolysis of the aqueous solutions of uracil and thymine was performed. The absorption spectra of the neutral and alkaline solutions showed the absorption maxima at 305, 320, 400 nm by uracil and 320, 390, 540 nm by thymine. The selectivity of the OH addition to C(5) and C(6) positions of uracil was observed. (author)
