Excitation of arbitrary states of hydrogen-like ions by the impact of a charged particle

  • 1. Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Calcutta. Dept. of Theoretical Physics

Description

By means of the one-dimensional integral representation of the Coulomb-Glauber amplitudes the authors calculate scaled cross sections for arbitrary 1s → ns and 1s → np excitation of hydrogen-like ions under electron impact for various n and ions nuclear charges Z both ranging from 2 to infinity. The n and Z dependences of scaled cross sections are studied. (author)
