Pulsed laser deposition of YBa2Cu3O7-gd in an oxygen background and discharge

  • 1. Naval Research Lab., Washington, DC (USA)

Description

The authors have deposited YBa2Cu3O7-δ thin films onto (100) MgO substrates and (100) SrTiO3 using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) while varying the substrate temperature. An oxygen discharge provided activated oxygen above the samples, allowing films with similar properties to be fabricated at lower temperatures. The results suggest that there is an optimum temperature for in situ deposition of YBa2Cu3O7-δ which may be dependent on the substrate and ambient conditions (oxygen or oxygen discharge)
