Properties of thermoluminescence (TL) and electron spin resonances (ESR) in deposited carbonates
Description
The formation age of deposited carbonates can be determined by using thermoluminescence (TL) and electron spin resonance (ESR) properties of the calcite crystal. These two properties of calcite have been checked and compared with similar specimens. The crystal structure and impurity content of the deposited carbonates have been determined and an attempt made to find a relationship between these and the TL and ESR properties of calcite. Several measurement and analysis methods have been used for deposited carbonates formed in nature. Problems and prospects for TL and ESR dating of deposited carbonates are discussed. (author)
