Variations of volume activity of radionuclide 137Cs at the Lithuanian coast of the Baltic sea in 2004

Three series of observation of variations of 137Cs concentration in a coastal zone of the Baltic Sea (at Juodkrante) in the summer-autumn of 2004 were carried out. Extreme values for this period of observation have appeared 49 and 91 Bq/m3. During each of a series of observation leaps in 137Cs concentration which were at change of a direction of a wind have been registered. In some cases the leaps exceeded 'background' value of 137Cs concentration in 1,5-2,0 times. Such leaps cannot be explained only by the influence of hydro meteorological situations. Regular influence on waters of the Baltic Sea of additional sources of pollution is supposed. (author)
