Determination of the potassium content using the whole-body counter for an assessment of the effects of CYPROHEPTADIN on the weight and cell mass of boys
Description
12 out of 24 children were treated with 4 mg/day cyproheptadine over a period of 30 days and for a further 60 days with 8 mg/day cyproheptadine. The effects of the substance on weight, cell mass, and fat mass are tested. The behaviour of the whole-body potassium is measured in a whole-body counter. The children treated with cyproheptadine show a significantly smaller potassium increase compared to the untreated control group. (BSC/LH)

Ueber 30 Tage werden 12 von 24 Kindern mit 4 mg/die Cyproheptadin und ueber weitere 60 Tage mit 8 mg/die Cyproheptadin behandelt. Die Auswirkungen der Substanz auf Gewicht, Zellmasse und Fettmasse werden ueberprueft. Dazu wird das Verhalten des Gesamtkoerperkaliums in einem Ganzkoerperzaehler gemessen. Die mit Cyproheptadin behandelten Kinder zeigen eine signifikant geringere Kaliumzunahme gegenueber der unbehandelten Kontrollgruppe. (BSC)Additional details
