Magnetic field in Perseus spiral arm
Description
The rotation measures data for extragalactic radio sources are used to estimate the value and direction of large-scale galactic magnetic field in the Perseus spiral arm. The field of a value of |B| ≅ 3.2 μG lies in the galactic plane. It is directed along ≅ 280 deg in the opposite direction compared to the magnetic field in the local Orion arm. A variance of the field is of the other of δB/B ≅ 1.4
