A framework for low energy nuclear scattering
Description
Low energy carbon deuteron scattering is analysed in the framework of direct channel Regge poles as an initial attempt to visualize the nuclear phenomena from a particle physicist's point of view. A single pole approximation is made corresponding to the existence of the state 14N as the intermediate state. A good fit to the experimental polarization data is obtained with the following parameters of the trajectory: Re alpha (S0)=spin=1 and Im alpha (S0)=0.07. The parameters so obtained are seen to predict the shape of the differential cross section well over the whole range.
