Interaction of short-wavelength laser radiation with spherical-shell targets

  • 1. KMS Fusion, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI (USA)

Description

Laser-plasma interaction experiments have been performed at both 1.05μm and 0.53μm. Measurements of absorption and X-ray production from spherical-shell targets have shown significant differences between the two laser wavelengths. The laser power on target up to 0.7-TW at 0.53μm was sufficient to observe effects from a high-temperature corona and confirmed the earlier predictions for wavelength scaling of the hot-electron temperature.
