Description

The possibility of predicting solar flares from radio emission characteristics is examined. Within the framework of S. I. Syrovatskii's model a criterion is derived which allows one, using quantities observed in the radio range, to determine the onset of thermal instability of a current sheet as the start of the explosive phase of a solar flare
