Radiation induced processes in perovskite proton conductors

Description
Influence of reactor irradiation on structure and properties of barium and strontium cerates is studied. It is shown that these materials are capable to intercalate protons up to high irradiation doses. It is explained by formation of oxygen vacancies during irradiation and variable valence of cerium. It is noticed that intercalation of additional hydrogen and oxygen from ambient can take place at room temperature. The irradiated surface of materials has tendency to interact with atmospheric moisture with formation of barium (strontium) and cerium hydroxides.

Изучено влияние реакторного облучения на структуру и свойства бариевых и стронциевых цератов. Показано, что эти материалы способны интеркалировать протоны до высоких доз облучения. Причиной этого являются образованные в процессе облучения кислородные вакансии и переменная валентность церия. Было замечено, что интеркаляция дополнительных протонов и кислорода из окружающего воздуха может иметь место при комнатной температуре. Облученная поверхность этих материалов склонна к взаимодействию с атмосферной влагой с образованием гидроксидов бария (стронция) и церияAdditional details
