Description
The gain and absorption of an electron-hole plasma in pure InSb is calculated by including the effects due to the band-gap renormalization and the band-filling and by taking into account deviations from the parabolic band form. The intensity-dependent changes of the index of refraction are obtained with the aid of the Kramers-Kronig relation. The results explain the large optical nonlinearities which are observed recently in InSb by Miller, Smith et al. (author)
