Mutagenic effects of bioflocculant-producing strains by N+ ion implantation

Description
The bacteria of bioflocculant-producing Brevundimonas sp.FJ-7 was implanted by 30 keV N+ ions to a doses of 5xl014-1xl016 ions·cm-2. Mutagenic effects of the microbe were studied. The results indicated that the survival rates exhibited a saddle-like curve and the mutagenic effects of N+ ion implantation were unique. A high genetic stability and flocculating activity mutant strain, NIM-192 was screened out, with a dose of 5xl015 ions·cm-2. Fermentation curve of bioflocculant-producing showed the growing speed of NIM-192 was slower, but the flocculating activity was higher than the original one, and the flocculating rate of NIM-192 increased by 34.26%. This indicated that biological effects produced by N+ ion implantation promoted the synthesis of the bioflocculant and increased the flocculating activity. (authors)
