New conceptions for gamma spectrometry at very high counting rates
Description
The aim of the present work was not an improvement in one particular aspect of high-rate spectroscopy but the design of a whole system corresponding to the present state of technology. Special attention was given to the counting-loss correction, data evaluation and rejection of overlapping pulses. With the present system quantitative gamma spectroscopy up to 1 MHz input rate becomes possible. This system was integrated into a neutron activation analysis device. Parallel to this two other systems for low- and medium counting rates were constructed. Basing on the experience thus gained a multichannel analyzer with dead-time correction based on a commercial personal computer was developed. 21 refs., 47 figs., 23 tabs. (qui)
