Effect of various planting techniques on rice production
Description
To investigate the effect of various planting techniques on yield and yield components of Super Basmati, multilocational experiments were conducted at Pindi Rattan-singh, Kot Nazir and PARC farm Kala Shah Kaku during 2004, Eight planting methods viz; drilling of soaked seed in water condition.direct seeding on beds and furrow, direct seeding on beds, transplanting on beds and furrow, transplanting on beds, line transplanting in a well puddle soil, conventional transplanting and parachute transplanting were tested. The highest plant height (123.70 cm), productive tillers/m/sup 2/ (264.67), paddy yield (3.90 t/ha) and cost benefit ratio (1.29) were observed in line transplanting method. The lowest paddy yield (3.07 t/ha) was recorded from direct seeding on beds. (author)
