Advantages and problems in the field of radioactive waste management

Description

Consideration is given to some problems of radioactive waste management, which were discussed at WM'95 symposium and are connected with reduction of financing in this field of nuclear activities. The importance of the problem of decreasing amount of wastes and progress in its solution are considered. Mobile unit for removing radionuclides from wastes and measuring unit for evaluation of plutonium content in wastes are described. Concepts of wet and dry storage of wastes are correlated. It is concluded, that dry version is preferable. 6 refs.; 3 figs
