Genetic types of uranium mineralization in Poland and their metallogenic relationships
Description
Manifestations of uranium mineralization in Poland can be classified into several types: intraintrusive, hydrothermal vein, black shale (including claystones and mudstones), sandstone (including conglomerates) and hard coal. These are ascribed to the five metallogenic provinces distinguished in Poland. A short characterization of each type is presented. The majority of the uranium manifestations are connected with the Variscan Orogen and are controlled by the tectonics, whereas most of the exogenic concentrations are controlled by lithological factors. Palaeoclimatic factors played an important role in the formation of secondary uranium minerals and the Tertiary was presumably the most favourable period because of its subtropical climate.
