Nuclear quadrupole moments of 12+-isomers in 196,198Pb

Description
The quadrupole moments of the 12+ isomers in 196Pb and 198Pb have been measured to be 0.75 and 0.65 b, respectively. The results are compared to the B(E2) values of the 12+-10+ transitions and the systematic behaviour of the effective E2 operator with decreasing neutron number is discussed. (orig.)
