Containment systems and components for LOCA and severe accidents mitigation
Description
In order to reduce the residual risk associated with hypothetical severe nuclear accidents, nuclear power plants in Germany have been backfitted with supplementary systems such as containment venting systems. In conjunction with these measures the German Reactor Safety Commission (RSK) imposed additional requirements. To meet these requirements new systems and components were developed, qualified and actually ordered for the utilities. The essential components of these systems are presented, with special regard to WWER 440 type reactors. (author). 5 figs
