Structural and thermal properties of nanocrystalline molybdenum oxide by solution precipitation method

  • 1. Nanomaterials Laboratory, Dept. of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (India)

Description

The molybdenum oxide nanocrystalline power is prepared by solution precipitation method. The prepared nanopowders were structurally characterized by XRD and FTIR, further its thermal properties were investigated by TGA/DTA. The phase stability, average particle size and lattice strain were studied as a function of nitric acid concentration from XRD. The presence of various chemical functional groups such as Mo-O, ammonia and water molecules was identified from FTIR spectrum. The TGA/DTA results indicate the phase transformation from hexagonal to orthorhombic. (author)
