AREVA – Obsolescence Management Concepts and Solutions
Creators
Description
– The experience shows that with increasing age many nuclear power plants repeatedly encounter the problem that required components and systems are no longer available because they have been discontinued. Each individual plant is faced with the challenge to ensure a reliable supply of spare parts. For safety and availability related components and systems it is recommended to install a proactive obsolescence management as preventive management for potential obsolescence, or to minimize its impact by applying countermeasures. The life cycle status analysis (LCSA) is the key element of each proactive obsolescence management. The main task of a LCSA consists of evaluating and monitoring of the availability of systems and components in a timely manner. The AREVA GmbH supply chain management concept focuses on supplier diversity, supplier relations and oversight to ensure quality, procurement services, obsolescence management and engineering support
