Description

A brief summary is given of a discussion at the 1985 Royal Society Meeting on the disposal of long-lived and high-level radioactive wastes. The three main points discussed were the 1) emergence of considerable confidence in the safety of highly active waste disposal, 2) the importance attached to the host rock as an aspect of the disposal system and 3) the question of public and political acceptance.
