Effect of pulse shape and secondary radical reactions in pulse radiolytic thiocyanate dosimetry

  • 1. Radiation Chemistry and Chemical Dynamics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

In pulse-radiolytic thiocyanate dosimetry, fast (SCN)2.- decay occurs following its radical-radical reaction, resulting in partial reduction of its after-pulse visible concentration. Taking our electron accelerator pulse profiles as examples, and employing detailed multi-component kinetic analysis of the underlying set of chemical reactions, the correction in dosimetry values is correlated with the irradiation dose, the electron pulse profile (shape) and also its width.
