Description

Focused on the Bruce A Units 1 and 2 Restart, this presentation examines the massive $4.25 billion project from Bruce Power's perspective. In October 2005, Bruce Power's business was transformed with the announcement it had reached an agreement with the Ontario Power Authority to restart Units 1 and 2 and refurbish Units 3 and 4. The author sets the scene for the plenary session on Bruce A restart describing the development of the project, the commercial framework and the incorporation of lessons learned from previous nuclear projects. The success of the restart is pivotal for future nuclear refurbishments so the project it will be subject to intense public, political and regulatory scrutiny.
