Description
Candidates of neutral heavy lepton (NHL) production were searched for in a sample of 2.6 million neutrino interactions in the Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester (CCFR) neutrino detector. No evidence for a NHL was found in the charged current decay channel, NHL→μ- + X. A NHL with mass between 0.5 and 3.0 GeV/c2 has been excluded (at 90% CL) for couplings to muons between 1*10-2 and 1*10-4 of the Fermi strength, depending on the NHL mass. The results of a search for a neutral heavy particle decaying via the neutral current channel are also discussed. (author) 16 refs., 2 figs
