Description

The safe and cost-effective decommissioning of the United Kingdom's redundant radioactive facilities is the responsibility of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority's Government Division (UKAEA). It also deals with reprocessing and radioactive waste management. The operational objectives of the Government Division are outlined, and the facilities it covers are noted. Objectives for and possible problems with decommissioning plans are described. (UK)
