Regulation of isoproterenol-induced salivary gland hyperplasia in young and old mice by substances affecting serotoninergic and dopaminergic systems
Description
This paper studies the effect of substances modulating serotoninergic and dopaminergic structures on induction of hyperplasia of the salivary glands by isoproterenol in young and old mice. 3H-thymidine was injected into the gland tissue in the experiments. The effect of serotonin and dopamine on isoproterenol-induced proliferation of salivary gland cells and number of activated splenic lymphocytes in old mice is shown. It is found that excitation of serotoninergic structures inhibits, whereas excitation of dopaminergic structures stimulates the response of mice to isoproterenol
