Numerical Analysis of the Evaporator for Cryogenic Looped Heat Pipe

  • 1. Changwon Nat'l Univ., Changwon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

After launching, the satellite's thermal control system supports the thermal design, thermal analysis, and other factors to secure the thermal stability during the operation period of the satellite. The satellite thermal control system is systematic in contrast to other satellites. This study presents a numerical simulation model for thermal performance of the evaporator for cryogenic looped type heat pipe. The working fluid used on the system is nitrogen. Velocity and pressure distributions of the working fluid in the evaporator are discussed, and the temperature distributions along with the vapor transport line are shown. Numerical results show that the maximum velocity and pressure of the liquid and vapor increases as the heat load increases. The temperature in the heating area was 82.57 K, 85.46 K, and 88.25 K for 10 W, 30 W, and 50 W heat load.
