Investigation of aluminium octacyanomolybdate
Description
Aluminium octacyanomolybdate(4) was investigated by IR spectroscopic, X-ray phase and thermogravimetric methods. According to analysis data the complex corresponds to the composition Al4(Mo(CN)8)3x4H2O. It is proposed that non-bridge cyanogroups and bridge groups Mo-CN→Al, which occur due to donor-acceptor N-Al bonds, are present in the complex. Ionization of hydrate-bound water under the effect of Al cation force field takes place during complex dehydration. Thermal decomposition of the complex proceeds according to hydrolytic type and results to formation of Al2O3, Mo2C, C in solid phase and liberation of gaseous (CN)2, N2
