Probing medium-modified fragmentation processes with prompt photons
Description
The quenching of single prompt photon large transverse momentum spectra in central Au-Au collisions is computed in perturbative QCD at RHIC energy, SNN=200GeV, and compared with PHENIX data. Double inclusive γ-π0 production is then addressed. The γ-π0 momentum imbalance spectrum in Au-Au collisions is seen to be sensitive to parton energy loss processes, which would help to understand how the fragmentation dynamics is modified in nuclear collisions at RHIC
