State of proton-containing groups of scandium hydroxide

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

A wide line PMR method, IR spectroscopy thermal and X-ray diffraction analyses are used to study the state, the sequence of removal of the proton-containing groups and phase transformations in the process of heat treatment of amorphous scandium hydroxide, prepared by alkali hydrolysis of ScCl3 solution. It is stated that in Sc2O3x5.00H2O hydroxide 1 mole of Sc takes ∼ 1 OH-group. H2O molecules are bound by hydrogen bonds with other oxyhydryl groups and are part of metal coordnation sphere
