Description
Wear measurements by means of charged particle activation often provide information in those cases when the conventional methods fail. The possibilities offered by this method have been enhanced for activations at the Rossendorf tandem accelerator by constructing an irradiation set-up permitting precise activation of small bent surfaces in depths up to 15 μm in iron targets. Especially the possibilities of exactly adjusting both particles energy and beam of the tandem accelerator favoured these investigations. This work gives a description of the set-up and the results of the test activations. (author)
