New oxotechnetium (V) complexes of N,N'-ethylenebis(acetylacetone imine), N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneamine), and o-phenylenebis(salicylideneamine). X-ray structures of the complexes of N,N'-ethylenebis(acetylacetone imine) and N,N'-ethylenebis (salicylideneamine)

Description

New technetium (V) oxo complexes of tetradentate Schiff base ligands have been synthesized and characterized. X-ray structure determination shows that the N,N'-ethylenebis(acetylacetone iminato) complex [TcO(H2O)(C12H18N2O2]+ has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, containing a trans-oxoaquatechnetium(V) core. Such a trans-TcO(OH2)3+ core is intermediate between the previously well-characterized monooxo, TcO3+, and trans-dioxo, TcO2+, cores. The complex was isolated as a mixed chloride/bromide salt [TcO(H2O)(C12H18N2O2]Br0.25, which crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with a = 10.935 (4) A, b = 9.877 (4) A, c = 7.324 (3) A, α = 87.266 (9)0, γ = 102.498 (12)0, γ = 97.845 (9)0, and R = 0.0215 for 2370 diffractometer data with I greater than or equal to 3sigma(I). The N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneaminato) complex [TcOCl(C16H14N2O2)] also has a pseudooctahedral coordination geometry but contains a trans-oxochlorotechetium (V) core and crystallizes in space group P212121 with a = 26.653 (11) A, b = 11.697 (5) A, c = 10.529 (3) A, and R = 0.0642 for 2105 diffractometer data with I GAMMA 3sigma(I). 2 figures,3 tables
