Description
The author presents a device aimed at studying the distribution of events in time, and more specifically the measurement of the time-of-flight of slow neutrons produced by a nuclear reactor. The neutron beam is modulated according to an all-or-none principle by using a mechanical shutter. The opening moment is sensed by a photoelectric cell which produces a pulse which is considered as a time origin. The author describes the apparatus and comments the obtained results. Reprint of a paper published in 'Journal de Physique et le Radium', t. 14, Mar 1953, p. 212-213.
