Dynamic effects investigation in liquid gallium by slow inelastic neutron scattering

  • 1. Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Institute of Atomic Physics, PO Box MG-6, R-76900 Bucharest, (Romania)

Description

The small momentum transfer region in the liquid gallium is of particular interest for studying collective excitations. Liquid gallium has been studied at 373 K and 723 K by the slow inelastic neutron scattering technique in the Q region below the first diffraction maximum. The scattering function S(Q,ω) for constant Q shows side peaks corresponding to damped phonons. The spectral distribution f(h,ω) of the velocity autocorrelation function is also obtained from measurements. (author) 3 Figs., 28 Refs
