Analysis of shock-interface and shock-turbulence interactions by direct simulation and turbulence transport modeling

Description

We present three methods of analyzing shock-interface and shock- turbulence interaction: direct simulation, turbulence transport with a full Reynolds tensor, variable density transport model, and a newly developed open-quotes k-var-epsilon- ρ'2close quotes, Model. Using direct simulations performed with the 2D FCT code EAD, we discuss here the structure of the flow produced by a shock-interface interaction as well as shock-mixed region interaction, as obtained in shock-tube experiments. Boundary layer effects, a prominent feature of such experiments, are examined using the 2D ALE CAVEAT code, in which the simplified model mentioned above was implemented
