Where and how did radioactive materials emitted to the air from Fukushima nuclear power plant deposit?

Description
Based on global simulation this article discussed where and how radioactive materials emitted to the air from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant deposited. Radioactive materials emitted to the air were transported leeward by wind and diffused horizontally and vertically with wind turbulence. If wind blew in constant direction they were transported in the air as a radioactive plume and deposited on land with wind turbulence or uptaken by rain. In reality wind blew in time and space different complicated direction influenced by land state, local wind or atmospheric conditions. Gas like iodine-131 deposited with wind turbulence while particulate like cesium-137 deposited by rain or snow, which caused area with much deposition (hot spot). Wide area distribution of iodine-131 and cesium-137 emitted to the air in March was analyzed using community multi-scale air quality simulation model. Calculated area distribution agreed well with that of monitoring data but with quantitative errors of one or two digits due to uncertain emitting conditions and wet deposit rate (T. Tanaka)
