Plunger adapter avoids replacement of disengaged BWR dry tubes
Description
BWR Intermediate Range Monitor/Source Range Monitor (IRM/SRM) dry tubes provide a watertight cavity for reactor in-core instrumentation. A device, called a plunger adapter, drastically reduces downtime and repair costs for IRM/SRM dry tubes. It has been designed at the Quad Cities nuclear station by the Commonwealth Edison Company. Application has been made for a patent. (U.K.)
