Microstructural evolution of the ferritic phase of duplex stainless steels aged at 300-400 deg C
Description
An atom-probe investigation of two duplex stainless steels with different Ni, Mo contents have been carried out. Differences between the two kinetics of spinodal decomposition and G-phase precipitation related to the Ni content have been pointed out. Mo atoms, because of their large atomic size may be responsible for an increase in the embrittlement due to spinodal decomposition. After long term aging at 400 deg C, G-phase particles are found to have a complex structure perhaps due to the association of related phases. 11 refs., 2 figs., 4 tabs
