Latest results on high transverse momentum electrons and photons in UA2

  • 1. CERN, Geneva (Switzerland)

Description

Using a sample of events, colleted by the UA2 detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity ∫Ldt = 131 nb-1, we have examined the structure of events containing at least one isolated photon or electron candidate of transverse momentum > 15 GeV/c, or at least two identified electrons of transverse momentum > 5 GeV/c. We have searched for features of the associated event structure that are unlikely to result form known processes, and we report on the observation of several events which are characterized by large electron transverse momentum, large associated missing energy and large associated jet transverse energy. 9 figs.; 23 refs.
