In vivo H-1 spectroscopy in humans at 1.5 T
Description
Water-suppressed and section-selective H-1 MR spectra were recorded from human brain, heart, liver, and leg muscle at 1.5 T. The body coil of the Signa scanner (General Electric) was used as the transmitter and surface coils were used as receivers. Normal brain spectra showed resonances from metabolites, N-acetylaspartate, glutamate, glutamine, phosphocreatine, creatine, choline, and taurine. In five brain tumors (meningioma) the N-acetylaspartate resonance was decreased. Resonances from various metabolites also appeared in spectra of normal heart and liver. The predominant resonance of muscle was fat, mainly saturated in the normal muscle and unsaturated in the diseased muscle
