Description
The decomposition behaviour of U3O8 has been studied in air using thermogravimetry. It has been observed that U3O8 looses oxygen and becomes hypostoichiometric in the temperature range of 600-1300 deg C. It has been further noted that U3O8 has not been completely reduced to stoichiometric UO2 in air even at 1500 deg C. (author)
