The clinical significance and assessment in essential hypertension severity Through determining plasma UA, β2-m and hs-CRP levels

Objective: In order to study the clinical significance and evaluation of essential hypertension (EH) severity through determining plasma uric acid (UA), β2-microglobulin (β2-m) and high-sensitire C-reaction protein (hs-CRP) levels. Methods: RIA biochemistry method and high-sensitive immunoturbidimetry used to measure plasma UA, β2-m and hs-CRP levels in 256 patients with EH (EH, including 76 cases EH3 section, 69 cases EH2 section, 68 cases EH1 section and 43 cases blood pressure normal section) and 70 controls, followed all of determinations with a comparative analysis. Results: The plasma UA levels in 256 patients with EH were 373.4 ± 117.6 μmol/l and were significantly higher than those in 70 controls(P < 0.01), there were increased gradually with EH severity from 43 cases blood pressure normal section to 76 cases EH3 section, and showed no significant difference to significantly higher than the controls(P > 0.05∼P < 0.01). The plasma β2-m and hs-CRP levels in 256 patients with EH were 9.48 ± 5.03 mg/l and 4.38 ± 1.31 mg/l and manifested obviously higher than that of controls(P < 0.001 and P < 0.01), and continuously increased with EH severity(P > 0.05∼P < 0.001). Conclusion: The severity of the patients with EH determining of UA, β2-m, hs-CRP levels were a good and valuable index, respectively. Also, plasma CRP could be utilize to predict cardiovascular events, and thus provides definite clinical value. (author)
