Thermal behaviour of a hybrid material zirconium diethylene triamine pentamethylene phosphonate

Description

A novel hybrid material, zirconium diethylene triamine pentamethylene phosphonate (ZrDETPMP) of the class of tetravalent metal acid (TMA) salt has been synthesized by sol-gel method. The material has been characterized for elemental analysis (ICP-AES and CHN analyser), thermal analysis (TGA and DSC), FTIR, X-ray diffraction and SEM. The ion exchange capacity (IEC) of the material has been determined and effect of calcination on IEC studied. Further, chemical resistivity of the material in various media (acids, bases and organic solvents) has also been assessed. Based on the properties exhibited by the material, some important applications have been suggested. (author)
