Electric-spark synchronizer for electromagnetic mass accelerators

Description
The authors present the principles, circuit diagram, and tests of a multichannel electric-spark synchronizer designed to start up the commutators of electromagnetic mass accelerators synchronously with the armature motion. The device registers the armature position with an error of less than 1 mm, and generates a 2-4 kV, 300-600-A start-up pulse 16 μsec long. The device's response time is 2 μsec. 2 refs., 2 figs
