The 408-MHz flux density scale on the Cambridge One-Mile Telescope
Description
The yearly averages, from 1973 to 1986, of the ratios of the 408-MHz flux densities of the One-Mile Telescope calibrators, 3C 48, 147 and 295, have been calculated. These indicate that over this period there have been no systematic changes in the flux densities of the compact sources 3C 48 and 147 greater than 1 per cent. The 408-MHz flux density scale used on the Cambridge One-Mile Telescope since 1973 is found to be about 10 per cent lower than the commonly adopted scale due to Baars et al (1977. Astr. Astrophys. 61,99). 408-MHz flux densities measured with the One-Mile Telescope on the Baars et al. scale are given for 58 bright sources including 29 from 3CR; the factors by which the published 5C flux densities should be multiplied to bring them on to this scale are also given.
